PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Turning the Page…A New Chapter

You may remember that in January, the SV-IABC board unanimously agreed to extend their commitment 6 months (for a term of 18 months) to better synchronize with other IABC chapters and strategic partners. I’d like to sincerely thank each and every member of our current board for their extra 6 months of leadership. As a team, we have many accomplishments to celebrate like being recognized for outstanding chapter management with an award of merit for community involvement and experiencing a 33% growth in membership.

We continue our drive for new members and are currently in the process of recruiting board members for the ’08/’09 term. I'm genuinely excited about the potential of the talented communications professionals assembled to lead the chapter next year. We have a lot of diverse perspectives, backgrounds and styles that will continue to make great things happen for SV-IABC. Here's the team as it stands today:

  • President — John Robertson
  • VP Community — Kathy Makranyi
  • VP Communications — Laura Roman
  • VP Membership — Pam Leitterman
  • VP Programs — Peter Vogt
  • VP Finance — Sharon Cullen
  • VP Past President — Susan Karnstedt

We are actively working to fill a few remaining positions

  • VP Technology
  • VP Volunteers
  • VP Sponsorships
  • VP Education

If you know someone that might be interested in one of these roles, please contact the chapter’s incoming President, John Robertson.

As we all know, we are in a challenging economic environment where professional communicators play an increasingly important role in organizational effectiveness. So SV-IABC will continue to be a vital association supporting companies throughout Silicon Valley.

It has truly been a pleasure to be a part of such a talented and dedicated group of communication professionals. Thanks for your support of SV-IABC and I look forward to our continued success.

Best regards,

Susan Karnstedt
SV-IABC President
