Contributor Positions
Here are some of the ways you can take an active role in IABC. Contact any Board member to find out more.
Office of President
Chapter President: Be the Chapter CEO and preside over all activities of officers and their committees to assure compliance with IABC’s and the chapter’s mission and goals. Time: 10 hours a month.
President-Elect: Be groomed to be the next president by assisting the President on special assignments. Reports to Chapter President. Time: 5 hours a month.
Past President: Advise the Executive Board and be the as chapter liaison to the IABC District. Reports to Chapter President. Time: 5 hours a month.
Accreditation Program Director: Manage the accreditation program and assist your colleagues in their quest for professional growth. Reports to Past President. Time: 2 hours a month.
Office of Finance
VP of Finance: Manage all aspects of the chapter finances, such as preparing income and expense statements, providing monthly updates, and conducting all banking activities. Reports to Chapter President. Time: 7 hours a month.
Finance Director: Work with the VP on various financial responsibilities and be trained for the VP position if you are interested. Reports to VP of Finance. Time: 2 hours a month.
Meeting Checker: Check in attendees to the monthly meeting. Reports to VP of Finance. Time: 1 hour a month.
Office of Administration
VP of Administration: Manage the chapter’s administrative functions, such as arranging the monthly Board meeting, maintaining historical records, and managing the judging events. Reports to Chapter President. Time: 7 hours a month.
Administrative Director: Work with the VP on various administration responsibilities and be trained for the VP position if you are interested. Reports to VP of Administration Time: 2 hours a month.
Judging Director: Manage the judging program, including arranging the judging events and supervising the judges. Reports to VP of Administration. Time: 5 hours 3 times a year.
Judge: Judge communications entries from other chapters. Reports to VP of Administration. Time: 3 hours for 3 times a year.
Office of Membership
VP of Membership: Manage all membership activities to grow chapter membership. Reports to Chapter President. Time: 7 hours a month.
Membership Director: Work with the VP by assisting with membership activities and be trained for the VP position if you are interested. Reports to the VP of Membership. Time: 5 hours a month.
Volunteer Director: Manage the volunteer recruitment program. Reports to the VP of Membership. Time: 5 hours a month. ·
Corporate In-house Champion: Promote IABC in your own company to recruit members and gain more visibility within your organization. Reports to the VP of Membership. Time: 2 hours a month.
Corporate Outreach Champion: Promote IABC to other companies to recruit members and make valuable connections that will help your career. Reports to the VP of Membership. Time: 2 hours a month.
Success Story Champion: Get to know our fascinating members better by gathering and writing their success stories to post on our web site. Reports to the VP of Membership. Time: 2 hours a month.
Special Member Champion: Meet the movers and shakers of the communications industry by contacting them to become members. Reports to the VP of Membership. Time: 2 hours a month.
Meeting Greeter: Significantly increase your network with an easy way to introduce yourself – by greeting attendees before the monthly meeting. Reports to the VP of Membership. Time: 30 minutes a month.
Office of Programs and Professional Development
VP of Programs and Professional Development: In charge of all chapter events, such as monthly meeting, networking mixers, and special workshops. Reports to Chapter President. Time: 7 hours a month.
Programs and Professional Development Director: Work with the VP on the monthly programs logistics. If interested, will be trained for VP position. Reports to VP of Programs and Professional Development. Time: 5 hours a month.
Sponsorship Director: Manage the sponsorship program by obtaining sponsors for chapter activities. Reports to VP of Programs and Professional Development. Time: 3 hours a month.
Independents Roundtable Champion: Manage the Independents Roundtable monthly program. Reports to VP of Programs and Professional Development. Time: 5 hours a month.
Dining & Dialogue Director: Manage the Dining & Dialogue program. Reports to VP of Programs and Professional Development. Time: 7 hours 2 times a year.
Office of Communications
VP of Communications: Manage all chapter communications, including monthly newsletter, news media activities, and internal and external chapter communications. Reports to Chapter President. Time: 7 hours a month.
Communications Director: Work with the VP on various communications responsibilities and trained for VP position if interested. Reports to VP of Communications. Time: 5 hours a month.
Newsletter Director: Manage the monthly online newsletter, including content management and working with the writers. Reports to VP of Communications. Time: 5 hours a month.
Marketing Director: Manage outbound marketing efforts to promote the chapter to the community. Reports to VP of Communications. Time: 2 hours a month.
Newsletter Editor: Edit the online newsletter. Reports to Newsletter Director. Time: 2 hours a month.
Office of Community and Educational Involvement
VP of Community and Educational Involvement: Develop and manage the relationship with community organizations and local universities. Also coordinate the chapter scholarship program. Reports to Chapter President. Time: 7 hours a month.
Community Involvement Director: Work with the VP to manage the community involvement outreach and events. Will train for VP position if interested. Reports to VP of Community and Educational Involvement. Time: 3 hours a month.
Educational Involvement Director: Work with the VP to manage the outreach to the local communications students. Reports to VP of Community and Educational Involvement. Time: 3 hours a month.
Scholarship Director: Reports to VP of Community and Educational Involvement. Time: 1 hour a month.
Office of Technology
VP of Technology: Manage the web site strategies and content. Reports to Chapter President. Time: 7 hours a month.
Technology Director: Work with the VP on various web site responsibilities and be trained for the VP position if you are interested. Reports to VP of Technology. Time: 3 hours a month.
Web Master: Update the web site on a regular basis. Reports to VP of Technology. Time: 2 hours a month.
Web Editor: Edit the web content. Reports to VP of Technology. Time: 2 hours a month.
